The first fish I caught with this reel was a 30# Yellow Tail in Baja, Mexico. I had filled it with 80# braided and it did the job. I caught fish much smaller as well. Down the line if I continue to angle in deep water I may look into a 2 speed reel. But this reel has so much capacity and strengthwith the advent of the new braided it is plenty beefy enough to handle much more than that 30# YT.
